Giá vàng tăng lên mức cao nhất trong hơn 9 tháng vào ngày thứ Sáu (13/01), dao động trên mốc quan trọng 1,900 USD/oz, khi lạm phát Mỹ hạ nhiệt làm dấy lên hy vọng Cục Dự trữ Liên bang Mỹ (Fed) sẽ giảm tốc độ nâng lãi suất.

Kết thúc phiên giao dịch ngày thứ Sáu, hợp đồng vàng giao ngay tiến 1.3% lên 1,920.70 USD/oz, mức cao nhất kể từ cuối tháng 4/2022. Hợp đồng này đã tăng 2.9% trong tuần qua.

Hợp đồng vàng tương lai cộng 1.2% lên 1,921.7 USD/oz.

Dữ liệu vào ngày 12/01 cho thấy chỉ số giá tiêu dùng CPI tháng 12/2022 tại Mỹ đã giảm lần đầu tiên trong hơn 2 năm rưỡi.

Sau dữ liệu này, các nhà hoạch định chính sách của Fed bày tỏ sự nhẹ nhõm khi lạm phát tiếp tục giảm trong tháng 12/2022, mở đường cho bước đi hạ tốc độ nâng lãi suất xuống 25 điểm cơ bản tại cuộc họp chính sách tháng 02/2023.

Lãi suất thấp hơn có xu hướng có lợi cho vàng, làm giảm chi phí cơ hội cho việc nắm giữ kim loại không đem lại lợi suất.

Ngoài ra, hoạt động mua vàng tại quốc gia tiêu thụ vàng hàng đầu ở Trung Quốc thường tăng trước kỳ nghỉ Tết Nguyên đán, kéo dài từ ngày 21/01 năm nay.

Đồng USD ghi nhận tuần tồi tệ nhất trong 1 tháng, làm vàng trở nên ít đắt đỏ hơn đối với người nắm giữ những đồng tiền khác.

Các chuyên gia phân tích tại Commerzbank cho biết: “Chúng tôi tin rằng thị trường vàng ban đầu sẽ tạm lắng cho đến khi có dự đoán rõ ràng hơn về chính sách tiền tệ của Mỹ trong tương lai”.
