Trong báo cáo quý 3 mà US Steel vừa công bố gần đây, Công ty cho biết sẽ bảo dưỡng hai lò cao Mon Valley và Gary, theo Kallanish.

US Steel tiến hành bảo dưỡng lò cao Mon Valley sớm hơn dự tính, bắt đầu tư ngày 03/09 thay vì từ tháng 10/2022. Lò cao này có công suất sản xuất thép thô khoảng 1.4 triệu tấn/năm.

Trong khi đó, lò cao Gary đã ngừng hoạt động “do điều kiện thị trường không thuận lợi và mức nhập khẩu thép quá cao”, theo báo cáo của US Steel. Lò cao này có công suất hàng năm khoảng 1.5 triệu tấn.

CEO David Burritt cho biết quý 3/2022 đánh dấu một bước tiến quan trọng cho tương lai của US Steel. “Chúng tôi tiếp tục với thế mạnh vốn có và được chuẩn bị tốt hơn để tạo ra giá trị nhiều hơn so với trước đây”.

Hiện tại, giá thép cuộn cán nóng (HRC (HM:HRC)) tại Mỹ ở mức 790-800 USD/tấn, còn giá thép cán nguội (CRC) ở mức 1,190-1,200 USD/tấn.
