Trước đó, lần đầu tiên kể từ năm 2019, Eximbank (HM:EIB) đã tổ chức thành công một sự kiện ĐHCĐ vào đầu năm 2022 mà không vấp phải sự phản đối giữa các nhóm cổ đông. Dẫn nguồn Fili, sáng ngày 16/1/2023, Ngân hàng TMCP Xuất Nhập khẩu Việt Nam - Eximbank (Mã EIB - HOSE) tổ chức ĐHCĐ bất thường nhằm thông qua một số vấn đề đáng chú ý như: Bầu bổ sung thành viên HĐQT nhiệm kỳ VII (2022 – 2025); Giữ lại bất động sản số 242 Bình Thới, phường 10, quận 11, TP. HCM; Tranh chấp Hợp đồng thuê tại số 21 Kỳ Đồng và hạch toán giá trị còn lại của công trình vào chi phí năm 2022;...

Tính đến 8h21, có 132 cổ đông đại diện cho 53,16% - tương đương gần 654 triệu cổ phiếu tham dự. Như vậy, ĐHCĐ bất thường 2023 của Eximbank đã không thể tổ chức.

Trước đó, sau nhiều lần tổ chức ĐHCĐ bất thành, ngày 15/2/2022, Eximbank đã tổ chức thành công công ĐHCĐ thường niên 2021 để bầu ra HĐQT và Ban kiểm soát nhiệm kỳ mới. Đáng nói, đây cũng là lần đầu tiên kể từ năm 2019 nhà băng này tổ chức thành công ĐHCĐ mà không vấp phải sự phản đối giữa các nhóm cổ đông.

Ở diễn biến liên quan, sau khi nhóm cổ đông liên quan đến Tập đoàn Thành Công bán hết hơn 117,6 triệu cổ phiếu EIB của Eximbank, một cổ đông lớn khác cũng được cho rằng đang thoái vốn tại ngân hàng này.

Cụ thể, trong phiên 13/1/2022, đã xuất hiện tổng cộng 134 triệu cổ phiếu EIB (tương đương 10,8% vốn điều lệ) được trao tay qua phương thức thỏa thuận (tổng giá trị 3.421 tỷ đồng) trong đó, phần lớn các cổ phiếu EIB được giao dịch ở mức giá 25.500 đồng/cổ phiếu. Phần lớn giao dịch bán được thực hiện bởi khối ngoại.

Trước đó vào cuối tháng 12/2022, ngân hàng này cũng ghi nhận nhiều giao dịch với giá trị khủng như phiên 22/12/2022 với 123,5 triệu cổ phiếu, 21/12/2022 với 81,2 triệu cổ phiếu hay phiên 28/12/2022 với 49,2 triệu cổ phiếu EIB được trao tay thao phương thức thỏa thuận.

Với tỷ lệ sở hữu nước ngoài tại Eximbank hiện ở mức 18,95% thì nhiều khả năng SMBC, cổ đông chiến lược đang nắm giữ 15% tại ngân hàng này đã thoái vốn trong phiên cuối tuần vừa qua.

Được biết SMBC trở thành cổ đông chiến lược tại Eximbank vào năm 2007.
