AiVIF.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Technology sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.55% to hit a new 1-month low, while the S&P 500 index fell 0.41%, and the NASDAQ Composite index fell 0.74%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:V), which rose 0.45% or 0.88 points to trade at 198.64 at the close. Meanwhile, Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) added 0.38% or 0.57 points to end at 152.39 and Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) was up 0.27% or 0.44 points to 163.18 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were 3M Company (NYSE:MMM), which fell 4.15% or 5.05 points to trade at 116.60 at the close. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) declined 2.75% or 0.86 points to end at 30.36 and Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:GS) was down 1.51% or 4.99 points to 326.49.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Rollins Inc (NYSE:ROL) which rose 6.03% to 35.77, Enphase Energy Inc (NASDAQ:ENPH) which was up 4.93% to settle at 292.82 and SolarEdge Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:SEDG) which gained 4.22% to close at 278.38.

The worst performers were Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:MRNA) which was down 6.13% to 130.08 in late trade, Church & Dwight Company Inc (NYSE:CHD) which lost 4.69% to settle at 80.23 and 3M Company (NYSE:MMM) which was down 4.15% to 116.60 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Shuttle Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:SHPH) which rose 91.28% to 28.50, IVERIC bio Inc (NASDAQ:ISEE) which was up 66.31% to settle at 15.70 and HyreCar Inc (NASDAQ:HYRE) which gained 58.12% to close at 1.27.

The worst performers were Creatd Inc (NASDAQ:CRTD) which was down 48.11% to 0.19 in late trade, Addentax Group Corp (NASDAQ:ATXG) which lost 39.52% to settle at 5.80 and Rigetti Computing Inc (NASDAQ:RGTI) which was down 37.09% to 2.29 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2094 to 1012 and 108 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2482 fell and 1297 advanced, while 173 ended unchanged.

Shares in Church & Dwight Company Inc (NYSE:CHD) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.69% or 3.95 to 80.23. Shares in 3M Company (NYSE:MMM) fell to 5-year lows; falling 4.15% or 5.05 to 116.60. Shares in 3M Company (NYSE:MMM) fell to 5-year lows; down 4.15% or 5.05 to 116.60. Shares in Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) fell to 5-year lows; falling 2.75% or 0.86 to 30.36. Shares in Creatd Inc (NASDAQ:CRTD) fell to all time lows; falling 48.11% or 0.18 to 0.19. Shares in Addentax Group Corp (NASDAQ:ATXG) fell to all time lows; losing 39.52% or 3.79 to 5.80. Shares in Rigetti Computing Inc (NASDAQ:RGTI) fell to all time lows; down 37.09% or 1.35 to 2.29.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 3.54% to 26.91 a new 1-month high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.62% or 10.75 to $1,711.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.10% or 0.09 to hit $86.78 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 3.16% or 3.03 to trade at $92.71 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 0.99, while USD/JPY rose 1.58% to 142.82.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.66% at 110.24.
