AiVIF.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.71%, while the S&P 500 index climbed 1.06%, and the NASDAQ Composite index added 1.27%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL), which rose 3.85% or 6.06 points to trade at 163.43 at the close. Meanwhile, American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) added 2.53% or 4.01 points to end at 162.45 and Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM) was up 1.87% or 3.04 points to 165.63 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:AMGN), which fell 4.07% or 10.07 points to trade at 237.62 at the close. Home Depot Inc (NYSE:HD) declined 0.74% or 2.23 points to end at 297.54 and Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) was down 0.04% or 0.07 points to 165.64.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were DXC Technology Co (NYSE:DXC) which rose 5.98% to 28.36, APA Corporation (NASDAQ:APA) which was up 5.01% to settle at 40.00 and Fortinet Inc (NASDAQ:FTNT) which gained 4.20% to close at 55.84.

The worst performers were The Mosaic Company (NYSE:MOS) which was down 6.76% to 52.44 in late trade, Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:AMGN) which lost 4.07% to settle at 237.62 and CF Industries Holdings Inc (NYSE:CF) which was down 4.05% to 99.48 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Neurobo Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:NRBO) which rose 101.30% to 0.56, InMed Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:INM) which was up 70.42% to settle at 18.78 and Ventyx Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:VTYX) which gained 64.98% to close at 38.11.

The worst performers were Tuesday Morning Corp (NASDAQ:TUEM) which was down 31.19% to 0.19 in late trade, WeTrade Group Inc (NASDAQ:WETG) which lost 30.19% to settle at 1.11 and Akari Therapeutics PLC (NASDAQ:AKTX) which was down 27.88% to 0.75 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2358 to 753 and 155 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2432 rose and 1384 declined, while 258 ended unchanged.

Shares in Tuesday Morning Corp (NASDAQ:TUEM) fell to all time lows; falling 31.19% or 0.09 to 0.19. Shares in WeTrade Group Inc (NASDAQ:WETG) fell to 52-week lows; down 30.19% or 0.48 to 1.11. Shares in Ventyx Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:VTYX) rose to all time highs; up 64.98% or 15.01 to 38.11. Shares in Akari Therapeutics PLC (NASDAQ:AKTX) fell to all time lows; falling 27.88% or 0.29 to 0.75.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 4.74% to 23.87.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.43% or 7.50 to $1,736.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.39% or 1.21 to hit $88.00 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.49% or 1.38 to trade at $94.22 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.81% to 1.01, while USD/JPY rose 0.21% to 142.82.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.60% at 108.08.
