Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX down 1.11%

AiVIF.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Food & Beverages and Retail sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Industrials and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.11%, while the MDAX index lost 0.97%, and the TecDAX index added 0.25%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn), which rose 1.71% or 0.31 points to trade at 18.67 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn) added 1.40% or 0.12 points to end at 8.85 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) was up 1.39% or 0.57 points to 41.56 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN), which fell 5.81% or 2.67 points to trade at 43.40 at the close. Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) declined 5.48% or 1.98 points to end at 34.14 and Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn) was down 4.17% or 2.74 points to 62.90.

The top performers on the MDAX were Uniper SE (ETR:UN01) which rose 5.96% to 19.55, Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was up 4.47% to settle at 57.46 and Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which gained 3.59% to close at 35.22.

The worst performers were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which was down 7.98% to 6.46 in late trade, Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which lost 6.19% to settle at 73.60 and Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which was down 6.17% to 36.35 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which rose 4.47% to 57.46, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which was up 2.93% to settle at 41.40 and TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which gained 2.03% to close at 11.79.

The worst performers were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was down 8.18% to 22.45 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which lost 7.19% to settle at 42.34 and Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which was down 4.78% to 73.75 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 470 to 226 and 69 ended unchanged.

Shares in BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.81% or 2.67 to 43.40. Shares in Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.48% or 1.98 to 34.14. Shares in Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.17% or 2.74 to 62.90. Shares in Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) fell to 52-week lows; losing 7.98% or 0.56 to 6.46. Shares in Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.78% or 3.70 to 73.75.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.40% to 27.73.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.03% or 0.50 to $1,838.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 3.70% or 4.05 to hit $105.47 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.37% or 3.86 to trade at $110.79 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP rose 0.61% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 103.92.
