France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.69%

AiVIF.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.69% to hit a new 6-months high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.68%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS), which rose 2.20% or 35.50 points to trade at 1,651.00 at the close. Meanwhile, EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX) added 1.99% or 3.40 points to end at 173.85 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 1.95% or 0.55 points to 28.55 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Stellantis NV (EPA:STLA), which fell 3.81% or 0.56 points to trade at 14.22 at the close. Bouygues SA (EPA:BOUY) declined 3.01% or 0.93 points to end at 29.97 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) was down 1.45% or 0.55 points to 37.13.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Air France KLM SA (EPA:AIRF) which rose 5.99% to 1.50, Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which was up 3.40% to settle at 153.45 and BIC (EPA:BICP) which gained 3.10% to close at 63.15.

The worst performers were Stellantis NV (EPA:STLA) which was down 3.81% to 14.22 in late trade, Bouygues SA (EPA:BOUY) which lost 3.01% to settle at 29.97 and Mercialys SA (EPA:MERY) which was down 2.21% to 10.16 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 323 to 227 and 83 ended unchanged.

Shares in Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.20% or 35.50 to 1,651.00.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.12% or 21.30 to $1,920.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.53% or 1.20 to hit $79.59 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.02% or 0.86 to trade at $84.89 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.89.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 101.95.
